Pasting M-Pesa Messages

Paste M-Pesa or bank messages straight into KapuLetu instead of forwarding them.

When to paste

Forwarding to the KapuLetu WhatsApp number is one way in. If you are already at your computer, or you have a batch of SMS to record, copy them and paste them into KapuLetu. They are read the same way as WhatsApp forwards.

How it works

  1. Open a group and tap Add contribution(next to the group's name). You can also use Paste or add contributions on the Inbox.
  2. Paste one or more messages, up to 50 at a time, and tap Check messages. Nothing is saved yet.
  3. Check each message. Correct a name, amount or phone if needed, and untick any you don't want.
  4. From a group, tap Approve into [group] to record the contributions straight away. If you're not sure about some, send them to the Inbox to review later. From the Inbox, they wait in the Inbox unless you pick a group.

What the labels mean

  • Contribution: money received. It will be saved.
  • Money out: a payment you made ("sent to", "paid to"). It always goes to the Inbox, where you can record it as an expense.
  • Already recorded: this receipt is already in KapuLetu, whether it was pasted or forwarded on WhatsApp. It is skipped, so nothing is counted twice.
  • Not a payment: the text isn't a payment message, for example a note or a report. It is skipped.
You can paste several SMS in one go, straight from your Messages app, without separating them. KapuLetu splits them into individual receipts.
